A semana antes da Páscoa de 2019 foi marcada por um fenómeno sem precedentes no abastecimento logístico do país: a greve dos motoristas de Matérias Perigosas que, num ápice e com o desespero, criou longas filas de carros nos postos de abastecimento de combustíveis em Portugal.
Em Agosto, uma greve mais prolongada tornou a situação igualmente complicada.
A resposta da VOST foi conhecida. Através da plataforma “Já Não Dá Para Abastecer” criou-se uma estrutura interativa, com base em múltiplas fontes verificáveis (nomeadamente as próprias empresas proprietárias de postos de abastecimento) que permitiu dar a conhecer aos cidadãos onde ainda era possível abastecer, onde existiam os postos prioritários, e onde podiam dar feedback das situações anómalas.
De jornais a televisões, o impacto deste site ultrapassou fronteiras e mostrou a importância da agilidade e estrutura de voluntários que a VOST consegue criar e coordenar. Participaram empresas nacionais e parceiros tecnológicos internacionais para um objetivo comum: proporcionar uma solução aos portugueses.
Foi nesta ativação que a VOST Portugal foi acolhida no “Project Galileo” da CloudFlare, um programa destinado a organizações sem fins lucrativos. A entrada neste programa, e esta ativação, deram origem a um menção na revista Wired.
